It’s set to be an exciting year for those that are passionate about snowsports; not only does The 2014 Winter Olympics commence on the 7th February, but December 2014 marks the opening of Club Med’s new Val Thorens 4 Trident resort, allowing those that have been inspired by the world-class displays of athleticism to take to the piste and try their hand at it themselves. The new resort, which represents an investment of nearly $106 million (£65 million), affords skiers luxury surroundings, in one of the most renowned ski domains in the world. As the highest point in the 3 Valleys ski area, it’s the perfect base for those that can’t get enough of the cold stuff – a true winter wonderland for beginners and experts alike!

What’s new?

The resort, which will sit some 2300 meters above sea level, will be comprised of 384 bright and airy rooms, including 12 Deluxe rooms, 5 Junior Suites and 6 Suites. With its doors open from November through May, guests can enjoy a whole host of activities, from traditional skiing and snowboarding, to the adrenaline-fuelled speed riding (which is more akin to paragliding)!

Apart from the obvious benefits that come with being in the perfect conditions for snowsports, guests can come back to a vibrant and modern resort that has been especially designed by prestigious interior designer, Sophie Jacqmin – the perfect retreat after a day on the slopes.

Food-lovers will be in their element; with Club Med’s new catering concept, three different living areas will allow guests to share culinary findings that they have discovered during their holiday, whilst providing a festive and friendly place to relax.

Why Val Thorens?

It’s no coincidence that Val Thorens is such a popular resort for keen skiers; it’s the highest place in the Alps and its north-facing slopes make it one of the most snow-sure places to go on a snowcation. There is also a good range of slopes, from nursery slopes to black runs, so there’s something for everyone, regardless of their ability.

This internationally acclaimed ski domain has 600 kilometres of some of the most prestigious and impeccably groomed slopes in the French Alps.

When it comes to Val Thorens village itself, it’s almost as if the place was custom-built for the use of skiers. Ski in/ski out lodgings abound and wooden exteriors make for a charming, picture-postcard backdrop.

Nevertheless, you don’t have to be slope-side to enjoy some of the best things on offer at the new Club Med resort; boasting a jam-packed events programme that includes live concerts and lighting shows, you can enjoy the best skiing, the finest entertainment and the greatest of atmospheres, all in one, brand-spanking retreat.

Feel like there’s something you can add to the resort to make it even better? Well, becoming a fan of the Club Med Facebook page gives you the opportunity to help design aspects of the new resort.
