Whether you’re an experienced wave-rider or a complete novice, surfing is an exhilarating experience. Gliding across a wave with the salty breeze in your hair and a vast expanse of beautiful coral below your board is unforgettable, something professional surfers Hanalei Reponty and Pat Gudauskas know all too well.

Hanalei, a Tahiti-born model and surfer-extraordinaire, says that she “learned how to swim before [she] could walk,” and has taken on powerful swells right across the globe. Pat, a legendary Californian surfer, has competed in countless contests, and loves nothing more than spending a day riding the waves.

It was only natural, then, that we show them just how fantastic the surfing is at one of our most beautiful Club Med resorts…

Hidden away in the bright blue seas of the Maldives is Kani, a pint-sized paradise of white sand, lush vegetation and abundant underwater life. It isn’t just what is beneath the waves that makes Kani such a hidden gem, however, but the waves themselves.

Tumbling over beautiful expanses of coral, Kani’s swells attract both experienced wave riders and those who are ready to try their hand at this exciting sport for the first time. Hanalei and Pat were right at home with turtles and dolphins swimming serenely below them, slicing through the swells with smiles lighting up their faces.

When you see Kani for yourself, however, it’s hard to imagine how anybody couldn’t be captivated by its charm. White sand beaches border a turquoise lagoon peppered with over-water suites, while the resort itself forms a veritable garden of fragrant hibiscus and eucalyptus: heaven on earth.

Whether you are looking for a place to take in some of the best surfing in the world, or just want to get away from it all and relax in complete bliss, look no further than Club Med Kani, the garden of the Maldives.
